Former Ohio State star JK Dobbins finally had a breakout performance during the 2024 NFL season with the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, he’s reportedly on the move and heading to a divisional rival.

According to NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Dobbins is heading to a new AFC West franchise with the Denver Broncos. That would pair Dobbins with young quarterback star Bo Nix, who impressed during his rookie season under head coach Sean Payton.

The deal is reportedly for $5.25 million on a one-year basis:

Ever since entering the NFL as a 2nd-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Dobbins has battled the injury bug, specifically fighting through multiple severe knee injuries. He appeared in just 9 games across the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and he missed the entire 2021 season after an injury during the preseason.

During the 2024 campaign, Dobbins was finally healthy enough to appear in 13 games with 11 starts while playing for Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers. He set career-high marks across the board, leading LA with 905 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns and finishing 2nd on the team with 1,058 yards from scrimmage.

Dobbins finished 2nd in the AP Comeback Player of the Year voting and now gets a fresh deal and an opportunity to compete for the starting role in Denver.

The star RB exited Columbus as one of the top RBs in Ohio State football history. Dobbins ranks 2nd on the program’s all-time rushing list with 4,459 yards, trailing only 2-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin.
