It’s official: Cade McNamara is Michigan’s starting quarterback this season.

Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh made the announcement Monday morning and McNamara met the media shortly after, where he spoke about what he hopes to bring to the table as QB1 this year.

As a redshirt freshman last year, McNamara went 43-for-71 ing for 5 touchdowns. He also was called off the bench in the season finale against Rutgers to replace Joe Milton, when he went 27-for-36 for 260 yards and 4 touchdowns.

McNamara has been leading the way in the quarterback room since spring ball. Even though he’s battled some tough competition for the starting job.

This offseason, McNamara beat out Texas Tech transfer Alan Bowman and five-star freshman JJ McCarthy for the starting job. McNamara and the Wolverines will start the 2021 campaign this week against Western Michigan.
